Wire Rope Derailment AI Warning System

The video-based AI recognition technology developed by WTAU effectively monitors various safety hazards—such as the proper spooling of the steel wire rope on the drum and whether the rope has become dislodged from the pulley—and provides alarm notifications to operators, thereby ensuring the normal operation of the hoist while enhancing both the efficiency and safety of the steel wire rope's usage.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Operations such as lifting loads and luffing the boom are inextricably linked to the crane's wire rope hoisting mechanism. When the wire rope is wound onto the drum in tight, orderly coils—layer upon layer—it ensures that the load is distributed evenly across the drum, thereby preventing deformation and facilitating smooth, trouble-free operation during subsequent use.

image.pngIn actual practice, however, various factors can disrupt this orderly arrangement, causing the wire rope to "jump" or wind unevenly on the drum; these factors include excessive fleet angles, insufficient pre-tensioning, or manufacturing deviations in the drum itself. Furthermore, during crane operations, instances where the hook or lifting tackle is lowered too far—bottoming out—can cause the wire rope to jump off the guide pulleys or fixed sheaves, creating hazards such as accelerated rope wear and the risk of shearing.
